Mounjaro Weight Loss Update: My Results After 4 Months
This is my before! I cant wait to see the after.
Why Mounjaro?
Over the last 5 years my weight has only gone in one direction and that is UP! Despite being so fed up and feeling awful physically and mentally nothing seemed to change. I tried Slimming World, Going to the Gym and Calorie Counting*, Slimming shakes and even paying for personalised plans but nothing seemed to work. I would lose a few lbs but gain in back over the next few weeks and one “cheat meal” meant I had blown my diet and I would give up.
In January of 2025 I started Mounjaro, after speaking with a friend who had had amazing results and was so close to her goal weight I thought why not give it a shot and see what happens. I am over the moon with my results in the last four months and I want to share an honest account of what has happened to date.
Where I Started.
My starting weight was 226lbs (16st 2lbs) 102.5kg and I felt rubbish! As my weight rose my desire to do anything plummeted. Going to the park and running around with Billie was something I began to dread. Climbing the stairs at work to the 2nd floor was becoming more difficult and I would reach the 2nd floor feeling out of breath and embarrassed.
I started Mounjaro with the hope that my weigh would decrease while I worked on my activity and fitness and overall my health would improve. I heard many people on MJ talk about something called “Food Noise” which I didn’t really notice until it was gone. Food noise basically means having lots of intrusive thoughts about food, things like:
“What can I eat for XYX meal”
“How long until XYZ meal”,
Feeling obsessed and distracted by food.
A few days in to my 2nd injection was when it clicked for me that I wasn’t thinking about food all the time my mind felt calmer allowing me to focus on other things and since starting MJ I have managed to complete some big tasks in my home and its been amazing.
4-Month Progress: The Results
How much weight you’ve lost so far (total pounds/kg)
Other wins: inches lost, clothes fitting differently, energy levels, mindset shifts
Any graphs, measurements, or side-by-side comparisons if you want to include
In total since starting MJ I have lost 26.5lbs (1st 12.5lbs) 12kg which is about 1.8lbs a week. About 1 month into my weight loss a friend of mine compared the loss to tins of beans. From time to time I like to do the conversion just to have a mental representation of what that looks like. So, at 26.5lbs lost that is the equivalent of 30 400g tins of beans! This blows my mind!
If you’re familiar with MJ you might know that the starting dose is 2.5mg and if you choose you can go up 2.5mg a month to a maximum of 15mg. In my 2nd month I went up to 5mg and I have just stayed on that so far as it is currently still working for me. By working I mean my appetite is not gone but it’s not insatiable and the food noise isn’t constant. Towards the end of the week I do find that my thoughts about food are more frequent but manageable.
Along with the weight loss there have been a few other wins for me too.
My clothes a fitting better. The jeans that I was going to have to replace as they had become too snug now fit nicely and the next pair I but will been in a smaller size!
I have more energy, I actually look forward to days out and spending time running around with Billie.
My mindset. Before having a take away would equal diet ruined. Being on a diet meant no nights out or meals out other wise it would ruin all the work I had put in. But since starting MJ I have realized that is just not true. I went on a 2 week all inclusive cruise and only gained 1lb which was gone within 2 days of returning home. I didn’t track or restrict I ate what I wanted and stopped when I was full.
As you can see my weight is steadily trending downwards 🩷
Challenges Along the Way
During my journey so far I have had some side effects but they are pretty mild. The night I take my injection I have a dull headache, I take my injection right before bed so this isn’t an issue for me as I sleep through it. Another pretty consistent side effect is mild constipation usually for the fist 3 or 4 days after taking the injection, I have however found that Rheal Gut Feel has helped with this. It doesn’t taste great but on day 2 and day 4 I will have one glass and this has helped a lot.
In the time I have been on MJ I have had one week where I gained 1lb after a two week all inclusive holiday and one week where I maintained my weigh from the previous week. I weigh daily and for me this has been a positive habit. It helps me stay mindful and has made me aware of natural fluctuations. Although I know for some it’s is not.
Lessons I’ve Learned
Progress isn’t always linear—and that’s okay. Fluctuation happens daily and other factors can contribute to a weight gain such as menstruation.
Small daily habits add up, upping your activity as little as 15 mins per day can make a difference.
You should probably eat more than you think. For my weight I eat around 1900 calories a day, if someone had told me this 6 months ago I would have thought they were crazy!
Be kind and be patient with your self. It took me years to get to this weight so expecting quick results is just setting me up for failure.
My Goals Moving Forward
Get more active, even thou my activity has increase I want to spend this next few months getting out in the sun and enjoying the outdoors!
Get better at cooking from scratch, I like cooking and I like trying new things but I am not the best cook. I would love to make my own bread!
I want to be a source of positivity and be apart of the community of those using MJ properly in a safe and healthy way!
Final Thoughts
Starting MJ was something I thought about for months but wasn’t sure if I should take the leap, for me it was a lot of money and I was put off by some of the “horror” stories, my research was almost non existent and I beleived what I read in the news. Then I came across a friend who had actually done her research and advised that I do my own which I am glad I did.
MJ has well and truly changed my life and as for the money it is worth every penny! If anything I am saving as I spend way less food on take aways and vending machine snacking!
I regret not starting sooner haha! But not really as I am a strong believer of everything will happen when you are ready 🩷
